Using Mass Mode on Blackberry

One of the most popular features of blackberry is its ability to connect to the PC for use as a mass storage device. This would be highly useful for those whose work involves carrying bulk of data from work computer to home computer and vice versa and don't hope to use email for it.

It also helps in simplifying the things users hope to carry when them, as it precludes the need to carry additional storage devices. Below are some of the things required:-

USB Cable

To hook the blackberry up to your computer, use the USB cable.

- First Step: If this is the first time you have connected the blackberry to the computer, you would have to go through a process of hardware recognition, based on the operating system. For that, you will have to keep them connected with USB till it recognizes your phone. In case this happens, follow the PC screen's instructions as is the case with most Windows Operating systems.

- Second Step: Select Media Card option from Device Option menu on the blackberry.

- Third Step: On changing the field, it would read as a mass Storage mode Support.

- Fourth Step: Now click on the menu option.

- Fifth Step: Now click on to Enable USB mass storage option. You would now be able to access the Blackberry as if it were an external computer hard drive.

Warnings and Tips:

Ensure that the battery of your blackberry is completely charged before you attempt to transfer any data. Always exercise care to ensure that you don't jostle the USB cables, the computer or Blackberry while transferring the data.

This would cause the file transfer to terminate or get corrupted and you would have to start all over again. It may also damage your Blackberry or USB cable.
