The 11 inch Apple MacBook Air model is the more recent design, having been introduced to Apple's portfolio in 2010. The design is very difficult to fault -- it looks great, is supremely well put together and is comfortable to use, even considering its diminuitive size. The aluminium unibody feels robust and there are so many nice touches that make it a joy to use. For example, the backlit keyboard is great for using in dark environments and the MagSafe power connector ensures that neither you nor your MacBook will get injured should you trip on the charger cable.

But it's the display that really wins us over. The sharp definition and rich colour gamut is easily the best of the bunch. The viewing angles are wide, too, and while the finish of the screen is gloss, Apple's anti-reflective coating means that the mirror effect is reduced and not so distracting.

The Apple MacBook Air 11in (64GB) is an excellent ultra-portable for those that don't want to choose between portability and computing power. It may have only 2GB of RAM and a small 64GB SSD, but these are easily excused given that it has a low voltage Intel Core i5 and weighs less than a netbook. An 11.6in (1,366x768 resolution) screen is good, but there are two other surprises that many will be delighted with. First up is the Thunderbolt port, which is much faster than even USB 3.0 ports. Second is the backlit keyboard, which really enhances the already premium appearance of the 11in Air.

It weighs a nearly non-existent 1.08kg and measures merely 17mm thick, giving it the best portability of any device that isn't a tablet. The low voltage Intel Core i5-2467M (1.6GHz) processor is what makes the 11in Air so exciting for the price, because it's on par with the processors found in notebooks nearly three times as heavy. It can even boost its clock speed up to 2.3GHz under load due to the integrated Turbo Boost 2.0 technology. Also integrated is the Intel HD Graphics 3000, which is enough to run newer games on low settings.

Anyone who knows Apple understands that consumers will pay a premium for its products. Now may be an ideal time to take advantage of some significant Apple laptops price drops given some interesting activity within the MacBook Pro line of laptops. Recently, there have been a number of sales on several MacBook Pro models, both new and refurbished. The Apple Store has refurbished models that can net even bigger savings depending on the model. Something is clearly going on in the market, but it is unclear exactly what at this point. Apple has historically been vague about its intentions with new products until it has made a formal announcement. But it is impossible to ignore all of the recent activity with respect to its famous line of Laptop computers.
